My ideas on how to address the crisis in the US Healthcare System

Who cares if money is collected by govt or private - The problem is "how the heathcare money is spent".

Currently $millions are spent on salaries, buidings and profits of insurance companies. Not to mention paying politicians, malpractice lawyers and treatment denial experts. On a pie chart of how the cash is spent, you wll see that probably 5% goes to health care providers and facilities. Govt regulation is needed, not to collect the cash but to clean up the spending of it. This is the reason why insurance companies are scared, they currently enjoy using all the cash for everything but heathcare.

Know about your healthcare insurance! Insurance policy guidelines and the addendums regulating your care can be just as elusive as the illness that's difficult to diagnose. What's your lifetime max and approved number of annual visits. Is your employer a small or large business; did you even know the number of employees affects the terms and cost of your policy? Does a rider on your policy modify the basic coverage? It's no surprise insurance isn't a consumer-centered industry.

Health insurance co-pays are regressive by nature, instead co-payments should represent a percentage based on an individual’s income level and on the services demanded.
