About SHOUTAmerica
Our Mission:
SHOUTAmerica is a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to strengthening the democratic fabric by engaging and empowering a new generation of Americans in the debates over the future of this nation.
Our first mission aims to protect the long-term interest of the country by encouraging young Americans to develop and implement sustainable solutions to the impending healthcare crisis through awareness, education and the promotion of dialogue.
Our Cause:
SHOUTAmerica is by no means the first, nor the last organization intent on addressing the challenges of American healthcare; however, we are set apart by our unique message and approach. We aim to raise awareness and educate Americans on healthcare's most urgent dilemma - its rising cost. The crisis arising from healthcare's rising cost is threatening the economic stability of the government, businesses and the American people themselves. We believe that without a dedicated effort to first contain the rising cost of healthcare, we are endangering this nation’s future as well as the hope of providing all Americans with affordable healthcare.
SHOUTAmerica is primarily focused on engaging and mobilizing a new generation of Americans, who currently stand to shoulder the greatest burden of the impending healthcare crisis. As has been seen amidst the energy of the 2008 Presidential election, this young generation has become politically awakened. Although their voice is being heard now, our fear is that after the election their voice will be drowned out by the ways of the past. Thus, SHOUTAmerica seeks to help ensure that the voice of America’s younger generations is always heard in the debate over the future of this country.
SHOUTAmerica at its core is an organization run by young, concerned individuals, who want to provide others with a better understanding of the crisis facing healthcare. We concede that the rising cost of healthcare is a complex matter, as there is no single person or entity behind the healthcare crisis - nor is there a single victim. Therefore, the purpose of this organization is not to advocate for a particular solution, but rather to educate and compel individuals to play an active role in the future of this country. We cannot claim to have all the answers, but at the end of the day, SHOUTAmerica hopes to help demystify the complexities of the healthcare crisis and initiate a change in how Americans think about healthcare. We believe with a better understanding of the healthcare crisis and with your participation and input, together we can build a movement committed to finding sustainable solutions to the healthcare crisis.
Our History:
SHOUTAmerica was founded in 2008 by R. Clayton McWhorter, an individual whose longtime role as a leader in the healthcare industry has fostered his ability to foresee a system destined for change. The idea that would eventually become SHOUTAmerica grew from Mr. McWhorter's deep concern for the impact of healthcare’s rising cost on future generations, as well as his belief in the necessity of empowering young Americans in the issues that shape this nation both today and especially tomorrow.
Thus, in continuing his long legacy of giving back, Mr. McWhorter lent his vision, resources and a blank whiteboard to a handful of young individuals, tasked with creating an organization that would educate and energize the future of America on the need for healthcare reform. Undoubtedly, SHOUTAmerica and future generations owe a great thanks to Mr. McWhorter for his mentorship, honest guidance, and above all, the opportunity for young Americans to act upon the healthcare crisis and take ownership of their future.
Now, given the momentous challenge before us, the future of the SHOUTAmerica story will be in great part written by you, as the strength of the organization and its capacity to effect change, lies in the number and the commitment of the individuals that support our cause. We ask you to join us to learn more about the healthcare crisis and participate in the SHOUTAmerica community. By sharing your thoughts, your solutions and letting your voice be heard, together we will one day turn a new and better page in the history of American healthcare.
